The Journal of Sustainability Education (JSE) serves as a forum for academics and practitioners to share, critique, and promote research, practices, and initiatives that foster the integration of economic, ecological, and social-cultural dimensions of sustainability within formal and non-formal educational contexts.
Joan Clingan, Ph.D., is a faculty member at Prescott College where she teaches research design in the Ph.D. program in sustainability education, the Master of Arts program in social justice and human rights, and independent student-designed master’s programs in arts, culture, and humanities. Chiara is a mother, educator, researcher, writer, community organizer, and environmental consultant. She lives in Columbia, Maryland where she serves as the founder and director of Columbia Families in Nature, president of Trilogy Eco-Systems Solutions, and president of The Community Ecology Institute. Her work is focused on understanding the effects of time spent in nature on personal, social, and ecological well-being. Betsy A. Wier, is a doctoral candidate in the Sustainability Education program at Prescott College. Betsy is an international humanitarian aid professional with over thirteen years of experience managing programs aimed at social justice, human rights, and sustainable development. Betsy’s research is focused on how creative expression can serve as a medium for articulating the interrelationship of people and place that ultimately leads to an ethic of care for the environment. Betsy has a Master’s degree in International Development from the University of Denver and bachelors’ degrees in Spanish Language and Art from Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. MORE
